Post Surgical Rehab in Tarrytown, New York - Good Life Physical Therapy

Post Surgical Rehab

Our post-surgical rehab helps you recover strength, mobility, and confidence with personalized, progressive care guided by your goals and procedure.

What Is it?

Post-surgical rehab is a focused recovery process designed to restore strength, flexibility, and function after a procedure. At Good Life, we tailor your rehab plan to your surgery type, goals, and lifestyle — helping you regain confidence, reduce pain, and return to the activities you enjoy, safely and efficiently.

Our Approach

We begin with a full review of your surgery, health history, and goals. Your therapist will guide you through a progressive, hands-on plan that balances healing with movement. Each session includes manual therapy, strength building, mobility work, and education — helping you regain independence and confidence with less pain and fewer complications.

Conditions We Treat

We guide you through recovery from surgery with progressive, one-on-one care tailored to your procedure and healing process.

Surgeries Commonly Supported:

• Total joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder)
• ACL, meniscus, and labral repairs
• Spinal fusion or discectomy
• Rotator cuff and tendon repairs
• Pelvic or abdominal surgeries
• C-section

What Can I Expect

We begin with a conversation with you about your goals and condition.  Your first visit includes a careful review of your surgical procedure and healing timeline, a full-body assessment, and gentle mobility or strength work based on your current phase of recovery. Expect hands-on therapy, education on healing, and guidance for rebuilding confidence and strength week by week. We will be with you through your whole healing journey - until your goals are met and you are back to the activities you love.

What Are the Benefits

• Faster and more complete recovery after surgery
• Reduced swelling, stiffness, and scar tissue formation

Additional FAQs

When should I start physical therapy after surgery?
It depends on the procedure, but often within a few days to two weeks. We’ll coordinate with your surgeon’s protocol and customize your plan accordingly.

Will therapy be painful after surgery?
Some discomfort is normal, but your therapist will move at your pace. We focus on healing, not pushing you through pain.

Should I wait until I get my surgery to schedule?

No! Please come to us before a planned surgery so we can help you prepare.  There is a significant difference in recovery between patients who participate in pre-hab and those who wait until after surgery.

What makes surgical recovery at Good Life Physical Therapy different?

We offer one-on-one treatment and will coordinate the plan of care with your surgical team.  We don't just follow a protocol, we address how your body is recovering and adjust to your needs at every session.  We will always advise you based upon our expertise and your condition, not just what insurance companies consider "typical" recovery because you deserve the best recovery, not just a standard one.
