Pelvis Therapy in Tarrytown, NY - Good Life Physical Therapy

Pelvis

Pelvic discomfort can affect your mobility, comfort, and sense of control. We take a holistic approach to pelvic health — helping you improve strength, alignment, and function in a safe, supportive environment.

Anatomy and Function

The pelvis forms the base of your spine and the foundation of your core. It supports your internal organs, transfers load between the upper and lower body, and houses the pelvic floor muscles — which play a role in stability and movement as well as bowel, bladder, and sexual function. When pelvic alignment or function is impaired, it can lead to discomfort, weakness, or core imbalance that impacts your whole-body function.

Common Conditions We Treat

Pelvic conditions can affect both function and quality of life. We treat them with care, precision, and respect.

Common Pelvic Conditions:

• Pelvic floor dysfunction (Incontinence, Dyspareunia, Hip labral pain)

• Pelvic organ prolapse

• SI joint pain or instability

• Tailbone (coccyx) pain

• Postpartum or post-surgical pelvic pain

• Chronic pelvic pain syndrome

How Physical Therapy Helps

Pelvic floor therapy addresses pain, weakness, or incoordination in the core and pelvic region. We combine manual techniques, breath training, and guided movement to improve muscle function, posture, and control. Each plan is private, personalized, and trauma-informed — helping you move, feel, and function with greater ease and confidence.

Additional FAQs

Is pelvic floor therapy only for people who’ve given birth?

Not at all. We treat adults in all stages of life with a variety of pelvic symptoms — not just postpartum recovery. The pelvis is the center of our bodies, daily functions, and contributes to a good life for all people when it's working well.

Do I need an internal exam?

Not everyone needs an internal exam to treat pelvic region conditions.  If indicated, we will work with your comfort level. Internal exams are always optional, explained thoroughly, and consent-based every step of the way.
